Our salt supplier from Træmore ren & naturlig: Mariager Saltcenter Denmark

Our salt for our Træmore ren & naturlig soaps comes from Mariager – a small town on the Danish Baltic coast.
There it lies deep underground: an ancient salt deposit.
Brine is extracted from this layer – approximately 26% salt content, rich in minerals, stable in structure.
At the Saltcenter, this brine is still boiled by hand.
Slowly, over an open fire, in iron pans.
The salt crystallizes on the surface, sinks, is lifted with wooden rakes, dried in baskets, and sifted.
No additives. No acceleration.

For us, this is not just a supplier,
but rather the logical complement to how we work.
Our soaps are based on brine (salt dissolved in water) – 30% dissolved salt,
Brine changes soap.
It makes them harder, more durable, and more skin-friendly.
You notice it immediately: The skin remains calm, the feeling is clear.
Not over-groomed – but balanced.

What makes the Saltcenter special:
It shows how much quality can be created,
if you take materials seriously and give them time.
A place where you can see how salt is formed. And why it is so much more than just an ingredient.

That's why Mariager is on our labels.
Because it's part of it.

FAQ – Natural & Salt Soaps

What is cold-process soap?

Cold-process soap is made at low temperatures. Fats (vegetable oils) react with lye to form soap and glycerin – entirely without heating or additives. The result is mild, skin-friendly, and effective.

What is brine soap and why do we use it?

Salt soap contains dissolved salt (around 26–30% in our case): as a structure-forming base. It mineralizes the soap. It becomes harder, more durable, lathers finer, and cleanses gently. The skin feels clean and balanced.

How long do cold-processed soaps need to mature?

Our soaps mature for 4–6 weeks. During this time they harden, the glycerin clumps together, and they gain stability and durability.

What is the difference between sea salt and Mariager salt?

sea salt

– originates from evaporated seawater
– often contaminated with microplastics and heavy metals
– Environmental pollution from open water extraction
– origin of virtually uncontrollable origin
– is industrially processed and refined

Mariager salt

– originates from a secluded salt deposit near Hobro in Denmark
– protected from environmental influences since prehistoric times
– is boiled directly on site by hand – without chemicals, without industry
– short supply chains, full transparency, stable composition
– especially pure, rich in minerals and skin-friendly
– ideally suited for cosmetic-grade brine soaps

How should soap be stored after washing?

- Let it dry thoroughly
Store soap in a dry place after use.
– Place it away from the water, ideally on a soap dish.
– This makes it harden better, last longer, and remain stable in shape and effect.

That's what makes Nordisk SaltSoap special

Salt soaps from Denmark.

Born out of a love for Scandinavia.

To these northern countries where landscape, light, and everyday life are so naturally intertwined. Where coasts are open, forests are silent, the weather is ever-changing, and therein lies something calming. Where nature isn't staged, but lived with.

Our soaps capture exactly this feeling.

The clarity of the air.

The vastness of the landscapes.

The subtle scents that don't dominate, but accompany.

Scandinavia is diverse. Denmark, Sweden, Norway – each country with its own atmosphere, its own colors, its own moments. And yet, they are united by something in common: a tranquil way of life, a sense of proportion, of quality, of things that deserve to last.

That's how we understand natural soap as well.

Not as a niche product. Not as an alternative.

But as a natural part of everyday life.

Reduced in formula. Clear in fragrance.

A soap that fits – into the bathroom, into the day, into life.

Just like the North itself.
